Sunday Dare, Minister of Youth and Sports Devpt. Federal Republic of Nigeria

Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare was born on May 29, 1966. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in International Studies, Second Class Upper from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and Masters in International Law with a Distinction from the University of Jos, Plateau State. Sunday Dare has at different times been an Oxford University, United Kingdom Research Fellow; Harvard Nieman Journalism Fellow; and New York University Freedom Forum Fellow.Prior to his appointment as a minister by President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR and subsequent confirmation by the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Sunday Dare served as Executive Commissioner (Stakeholder Management) at the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) following his appointment in August 2016.

As Executive Commissioner for Stakeholder Management, his day-to-day functions see him managing the NCC’s interface with, and protecting the interests of critical stakeholders like the over 170 million telephone users in Nigeria; Mobile Network Operators (MNOs); the different categories of Licensees of the Commission; Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the Federal and State governments and other stakeholders.

Before his role at the NCC he had worked in the media. He was also the Convener of the Social Media Clinic (SMC), a Media/Information Technology (New Media) initiative, and had previously served as the Chief, Hausa Service, African Division of the Voice of Nigeria (VOA) in Washington, DC for over nine years.
